Patricia Ann Downs (Gillmore)
Patty Downs, 71, of Holt, MO passed away Sunday, November 12, 2017. A visitation will be held from 6-8pm on Thursday, November 16 at Carson-Speaks Chapel 1501 W. Lexington Ave, Independence, MO, 64052. Funeral Service will be 10am Friday, November 17 at the chapel, followed by interment at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens.
Patty was born on November 13, 1945 in Nelson, MO to Roy and Freeda (Briggs) Gillmore. She grew up dancing in Sugar Creek, even performing for President Truman. Shortly after graduating high school, she married Everett Downs. Together they raised 4 children and shared many memories. In her spare time she loved playing bingo, crossword puzzles, collecting coins, cooking, and liked watching the Chiefs and Royals. Most of all she loved her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She will be remembered by her husband Everett Downs of Holt, MO; daughter Paula Justice; sons Chris Downs, Chad Downs (Brittnie); sister Bess Hampton of Joplin, MO; son-in-law Robbie Justice; grandchildren Brittany, Joel, Nate, Ace, Brooke, Colten, Jessica, Blake, and Paige; great-grandchildren Cooper, Trent, Grayson, Adelynn; family friend Danny Martinez; plus many nieces, nephews, extended family members and countless others that called her mom.
She was preceded in death by her parents, siblings Doris Soderstadt, Bill Gillmore, and Fred Gillmore, son Troy Downs, daughter-in-law Shelley Downs, and grandson Justin Downs.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, in lieu of flowers.
