Obituary for Wayne Richard Lefler

Wayne Richard Lefler, 91, passed away Tuesday, June 13, 2017.

Wayne was born May 9, 1926 in Kansas City, MO the son of Herb and Lenore (Roberts) Lefler. He served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and was a plumber and welder for Local #8 Plumber’s Union. He was also a member of First Christian Church of Independence, the VFW, the American Legion, and the NRA.

Wayne is preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jean (Sullivant) Lefler.

He is survived by his daughter, Kay and her husband Ed Comer and his daughter Deborah Dawson; grandchildren, Elizabeth Comer, Steven and Nicole Dawson; and two great grandsons Samuel & Nicholas Dawson.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of the Veteran’s Home of Warrensburg for their attention, care, and kindness devoted to Wayne over the last several years. Cremation will be under the direction of Carson-Speaks Chapel. Private inurnment will be at a later date at Mt. Washington Cemetery.
