Leo F. Pete Jr.
Leo F. Pete, Jr 87 of Independence, MO, passed away Sunday, June 11, 2017. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m., Thursday, June 15, 2017 at the St. Mark’s Catholic Church, 3736 S. Lee’s Summit Rd, Independence, MO 64055 with burial to follow in Mt. Olivet Cemetery. A rosary will be recited at 6:00 p.m., Wednesday evening followed by family visitation until 8:00 p.m., Wednesday at the Carson-Speaks Chapel, 1501 W. Lexington Ave., Independence, MO 64052. Leo was born on June 2, 1930 in Carthage, NY. He was a member of St. Mark’s Catholic Church of Independence, MO. He proudly served in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict, with a lifelong career in Government service, retiring from the US Dept. of Agriculture. He is survived by; his wife Edna, of the home; children, Mike Pete (Linda) of Media, PA, Brenda Buhrmester (Rex) of Norborne, MO, Karen Pete of Shawnee, KS and David (Kristi) Nichols of Independence, MO; a sister, Patricia Potter of Lowville, NY; 6 grandchildren, Nathan Buhrmester, Luke Buhrmester, Mark Buhrmester, Brandi Pete, April Pete, and Leslie Pete and 6 great grandchildren, Jacob Buhrmester, Angelo Barone, Natalia Caridi, Liviana Caridi, Emma Prew, and Austin Prew. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to St. Marks Catholic Church or Eastgate Christian Church of Independence, MO in remembrance of Leo.
