Elizabeth Irene "Betty"  Brockhouse (Eller)
Elizabeth Irene “Betty” (Eller) Brockhouse, 89, went home to be with Jesus on May 9, 2015 at St. Mary’s Manor in Blue Springs, Missouri, her home for thirteen years. Funeral services will be 2 pm, Thursday, May 14 at Speaks Suburban Chapel, 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055; interment at Oak Ridge Memory Gardens. Visitation will begin at 1 pm before the service at the chapel.
Elizabeth Irene “Betty” (Eller) Brockhouse was born April 12,1926 in Dewey, Oklahoma to John Everett Eller and Stella Adeline (Wiley) Eller. Betty was the fifth of six children and a 1944 graduate of Dewey High School. She graduated from Phillips University in Enid, Oklahoma in with a Bachelor of Science in Religious Education in 1948. Betty and Bobby Arno Brockhouse were married October 31, 1949 at Independence Boulevard Christian Church in Kansas City, Missouri. Betty and her husband had two children: Michael Wayne Brockhouse and Madeline Eileen (Brockhouse) Ashurst Garman. After working for Golden Point, the IRS, the Kansas City, Missouri Police Department and the Bank of Kansas City, she opened a daycare service and provided daycare for many children until she retired. Betty also enjoyed traveling, crocheting, genealogy, collecting bells, plates and angel figurines and reading the Bible. Betty also enjoyed spending time with her children and their families but Betty’s eyes would light up when she was with her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren and her great-great-grandchild. Betty was a special lady and she will be greatly missed by her many friends at St. Mary’s Manor and her loving family. Betty was preceded in death by her parents John and Stella Eller: her sister Helen Bartlett: her brothers Everett Eller and James Eller: her husband Bob Brockhouse and her daughter Madeline Eileen Garman. She is survived by two sisters Willa Mae Case and Barbara Anderson: her son Michael Brockhouse and wife Darcy; son- law Jeff Garman; former son-in-law Bill Ashurst and wife Pat; grandsons Craig Ashurst, Brandy Ashurst and wife Stahr, Michael-Lee Brockhouse and Luke Brockhouse; granddaughters Cherry Ashurst and Michelle Brockhouse; great-grandchildren Chelsey Ashurst, Haley Williams, Joseph Ashurst, Zachary Ashurst, Brandy Ashurst, Addriana Brown, Kiara Ashurst, Anthony Brown, Kalani Ashurst, Luke “Max” Brockhouse Jr. and Sterling Kyanne Brockhouse and great-great grandchild Colton Choate.
