Life Story for James Claude "JC" Bellomy

James Claude ā€œJCā€ Bellomy, 76, passed away on February 7, 2021, under hospice care after a brief battle with renal cancer.

JC was born November 11, 1944 in Clinton, MO to John Steele and Ethel Maud (Hopkins) Bellomy. He was preceded in death by three infant and stillborn brothers, and is survived by one brother Joseph Earl Bellomy of Kansas City, MO. He is survived by his wife of 35 years, Teresa Bellomy; three children, Daniel, Mitzi, and Jeff; five grandchildren, Jason & Jordan, Shelby & Hunter, and Graham; several great-grandchildren; and one beloved cat named Inky.

JC loved to fly and operate his ham radio. He also loved ice hockey and he and Teresa were longtime season ticket holders to the KC Mavericks. He was skilled in woodworking and spent hours tinkering in his shop in the basement. He worked for Borg Warner Corporation from 1963-1966, then for Armco Steel (AK Steel) from 1966-1991. He retired from there, then went to work for Automatic Systems/Columbus-McKennen in 1990. After 29 years there, he retired once again.

He met his wife Teresa at Calvary Baptist Church in Independence, and they married in 1985. Together, they enjoyed numerous skiing and camping trips to Colorado and Yellowstone. He liked to talk to everyone ā€“ he always had a crazy story and made everyone laugh and smile. He was a wonderful husband and provider.

Due to the pandemic, no services will be held at this time. Contributions may be made to Sarah Cannon Cancer Center or to Wayside Waifs. Although he touted that he never wanted pets, he eventually came around to them, and opened his heart to many cats over the years.
