My name is John Dye, and I have known Jimmy since back in the 70's through church.

Back in the early 90's, I was asked to join the Bannister RIdge Runners Band. I told them I not only didn't own a guitar, but couldn't play it if I did. I had a few lessons, then was told it was time to go to a practice at the Bannister RLDS Church. That night, I found out the true meaning of patience, because I new very little about playing guitar, but Jimmy was so patient and would always stop and give me help.

I went on to learn to play the bass guitar, and stayed with the band until it disbanded, then a couple of us continued to go play at various care facilities and get togethers.

I will never forget going to Jim and Norma's home and practicitng in the basement, Jim's unending patience, and all of the fun we had together learning and playing music.

My heart will always jump when I hear a guitar player "walk up" to another chord like Jimmy did. He was one of a kind, and he will always have a special place in the hearts of everyone who knew him.

Cindy and I had many wonderful times with both Jimmie and Norma through the years. They were instrumental in making the Big Creek Show a success in the early years. They always had a big smile and a warm greeting at the front door every Saturday night for all the patrons attending the show. We miss them both very much, but we know they are both in Heaven and enjoying themselves with many friends and family. Jimmie is more than likely playing a Martin guitar and serenading all the Saints by now. We will miss him very much. God Bless all the family.

I have missed Jimmie's guitar playing and singing too .He was gifted at both . All is well with him now. I pray Gods comfort and strength for the family.

Hi this is David Coles daughter Jimmie and my dad David Cole rode together for work and played music together for years! My dad passed away August 11 at 89 of colon cancer we lost my mom to alzheimers 4 years ago . Dad and Jimmie would talk on the phone off and on I wasn't able to find a number for you guys to tell you of dads passing but I hope I can come to Jimmies service. I imagine they are in heaven now playing bluegrass and hopefully not working on cars! So sorry for your loss.. Sheila Cole Gill

Story shared: My memory of Jimmy

I love this wonderful man. Earliest memories include skiing on the Lake of the Ozarks. Him driving the boat, Advising me on how to watch a skier and tell him right away if someone fell. I am certain I did a crappy job but he was always encouraging. Not that he put up with us when we kids needed straightening out. Looking back I think he was surprised as much as me when I got up on skis on my first attempt. I also remember how hard the water was when I face planted at the end of that run. Wonderful days with the Cross family. Of course, like everyone, remembering his music is what is in my heart. He just made you move and close your eyes and sing and hum and applaud ... and just feel good. For all who remember and love him, my love and prayers for your loss. You know and feel as I do that he is now himself and with the one he loves most and in the nearer presence of our Lord and savior. May his soul and the souls of all the departed Rest In Peace. Amen.
