Obituary for Kenneth Lee Moore
Kenneth Lee Moore of Lee’s Summit, Missouri passed away peacefully on Friday, May 12, 2023. He was 89. Kenneth was born to Arba and Sylvia Moore on September 11, 1933 in Princeton, Missouri. He was married to Shirley Ann Hammond on August 5, 1956.
Kenneth worked hard all his life and enjoyed it. Growing up he farmed with his father. In addition, they raised and sold countless varieties of game birds across the Midwest. While in high school he earned the Missouri State Star Farmer award from FFA and went on to be named an American Star Farmer.
In 1962, Kenneth and Shirley moved to Maysville where they owned and operated a Grade A dairy farm that won several production awards. When an opportunity came in 1967 to take over the sales of Timber Frame Pole Barns in the region, he transitioned successfully to that career.
When not working Kenneth enjoyed several hobbies. He was a skilled woodworker making two cradles that would later hold his grandchildren and then his great grandchildren. He made three beautiful jewelry armoires for his three granddaughters and chest for his grandson. He spent many good times with friends fishing and hunting, and was known to have one of the best bird dogs in the area. Through the years, weekends were spent boating at Lake Viking and teaching countless people to water ski. Kenneth enjoyed visiting with family and friends and could always be counted on to tell some great stories.
No matter how busy he kept himself, he was always devoted to his family and supported them in every way. He dearly loved Shirley and celebrated 66 years of marriage with her. He spent hours watching his daughters in their school activities and continued following each grandchild in all of theirs. Because of his love and devotion to his family, they have so many cherished memories that bring comfort and smiles.
Kenneth is survived by his beloved wife, Shirley; daughters, Linda Niendick (Neal) and Lora Davison ; grandchildren, Abbey Manning (Brady), Kara Klontz (Ryan), Courtney Kawelaske (Ryan), Benjamin Niendick (McKenna); great-grandchildren, Sophie, Stella, August, Cal and Raelynn.
He is preceded in death by his sister, Mary Lou Chipps and brother in law Donnie.
A memorial visitation will be held on Friday, May 19th from 10-11am with a memorial service to immediately follow at Speaks Suburban Chapel in Independence, Missouri. A private family inurnment will take place at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, Missouri.
Kenneth served in the Korean war and was privileged to go on a Heartland Honor Flight to Washington D.C. In Lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in Kenneth’s memory be made to The Heartland Honor Flight in care of Speaks Suburban Chapel 18020 East 39th St S. Independence, MO 64055.
