Obituary for Jerry Alan Williams

Jerry Alan Williams, of Independence, MO, a quiet and reserved man, who was a devoted Catholic, passed away on May 3, 2021. He was 73 years old. Jerry was born on September 9, 1947 in Savannah, Missouri to Lee and Francis Williams and was the youngest of 3 children. He graduated from Truman High School in the class of 1967, then went on to the United States Army, where he proudly served for three years. On May 4, 1968, Jerry married Rita M. Galvan and two sons were born to this union: Tim and Michael. Jerry worked as a maintenance engineer for 30 years at Humana. He was known to bargain shop, especially at pawn shops. Jerry enjoyed any outdoor activity, be it hunting, fishing, camping, boating, or kayaking. He was a member of the Cursillo, as well as an active member of Boy Scouts of America, as a warrior of Mic-O-Say and he will be dearly missed. Jerry is survived by his wife of almost 53 years, Rita Williams; sons, Tim, and Michael Williams, and 3 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, and siblings, Terry, and Kathy Williams. A visitation will be held on Thursday, May 6, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m., with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00 a.m., both at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 600 N. Liberty Street, Independence, MO 64050. Jerry will be laid to rest at Woodlawn Cemetery in Independence, MO.
