Obituary for Viola Maxine Ault (McCoy)

Viola Maxine Ault, 93, better known as Nana to her family and Mac to her friends, born November 16, 1927 in Marshall, MO passed peacefully at St. Luke’s East Hospital in Lee’s Summit, MO surrounded by her loving family on the evening of March 2, 2021. She was predeceased by her first husband William Russell Ault and her brother Donald Lee McCoy. She is survived by her current husband, Riley Eugene Ault, brother Ronald McCoy and sister-in-law Beverly McCoy, her daughters Karen Sue Thomas and husband James F. Thomas, Sharon Jean Kellogg and husband Charles Kellogg, Kathryn Ann O’Neal and husband Gary O’Neal, and grandchildren, Tammy Tilley and husband Chris Tilley, Angie Fox, Kit Fox and wife Autumn Fox, Kara Doak and husband Andrew Doak, Kelly Coddington and husband Brad Coddington, Jeff O’Neal and wife Carmen O’Neal. She was blessed with 17 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Maxine/Nana was a beloved wife, sister, mother, grandmother and friend who left a legacy of love and light. She was an inspiration to all who knew her as she loved life and lived with zest, determination, and joy. She was known for her “Nana rolls, homemade candies and beautiful seasonal decorations as she entertained friends and family for joyful Christmas celebrations. She crafted beautiful handmade quilts for each of her children and grandchildren that are treasured keepsakes. She is remembered for her commitment to her family and service to her community. Maxine was an active member of the Eastgate Christian Church, serving on the Board of Directors and several committees. She lived several decades in Marshall, MO and enjoyed a successful and varied career in different positions with the most time served as the hospital dietician and accounting Associate for the public works company. A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will be at 4:00 p.m., Saturday, June 26, 2021 at Speaks Funeral Home 18020 E. 39th St., Independence, MO 64055. The family will greet friends from 3:00 p.m., until service time at the chapel. A family celebration will be held subsequently on her brother’s farm in Blackwater, MO. The family requests donations in lieu of flowers be made to the Eastgate Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, 4010 South River Boulevard, Independence, MO 64055.
